The Interrobangs Blog has pointed out. Elder has been photo-shopped very badly in an attempt to make him seem less ethnic. You can see pictures and everything by clicking on over.
I liked this book but didn't like it as much as most people seemed to (or as I wanted to). It's interesting to see the "whitewashing" of the cover even though you can't really tell the color of the faces since they're in so much shadow. While I loved the starry effect of the cover on this book, those faces really rubbed me the wrong way. They looked very generic to me.
